Just replaced the original alternator on mine last weekend. Battery light came on while running errands, managed to get it home without issue. The next day battery was completely drained. Charged it up, as soon as I reconnected the battery terminals I had a 10 amp draw (car was off) and the alternator started smoking. Put a reman Denso in and all is well a week later.

Pros: all is well
Cons: alternator started smoking
Mileage: 195000 km

Denso Alternator

Reman Denso from Advance thru WorldPak 210-1054. Same day, maybe 30 minute install. Never looked back and better than a used one with unknown history IMO!

Pros: better than used, easy install
Part number: 210-1054

Replace the alternator. The battery light indicates the battery is not being charged (due to bad alternator), losing power steering is also a sign of bad alternator as it provides the power for it to function. O'Reilly battery test also confirms this as battery should read 13-14V if it's being charged by the alternator. Recommend going with OEM alternator or name branded aftermarket like Denso which is the OEM supplier for reliability reasons. This should fix most of your issues.

Pros: OEM or Denso recommended
Cons: battery not being charged

Your Denso alternator lasted 22+ years. It’s way better quality than cheap reman alternators out there.

Pros: better quality, long lasting
Cons: cheap reman alternatives
Vehicle: Toyota
