bosch alternator is better. get a bosch alternator.
Rockauto.com shows reman units, both Bosch and Valeo. As far as interchange with Bosch, I dont know, but worked at the dealer and they always asked if it was Bosch or Veleo because it could not be determined by Vin.
I managed to get a reman Bosch 150a/140a last year from Advance Auto for around $190.
I just replaced the one in my daughter's Mk 4 with a rebuilt 120A Bosch one from Rock Auto last week.
I would go Bosch if I had the option. Mine went out on a road trip. I had to go with what option was available at the auto store I was able to limp to. Lucky there was one close by but it was who knows what brand. It was my only option so I bought it. Probably duralast or something but it’s working 2 years later.
I had a car get flooded for 6 months and the Bosh alternator still worked perfectly for another 21 years. Would buy again
Just had my 2008 V6 Accord written off after getting rear ended. It had plenty of power and was relaxing to drive, but was a bit soft when it got twisty - but only Rimutaka Hill/Pahiatua track level twisty, and that was coming from a Legacy GTB.
The equipment level is pretty basic but after 190k I'd only had to replace the power steering pump and alternator, and the only interior wear was on the centre console lid.
The alternator went out on it, and I had to replace it four times due to faulty over the counter rebuilt Bosch parts.
I picked up a 07 jetta 2.5 from the auction for a good deal and only 95k on it. The problem is the battery is not charging, figured ok needs new alternator put a bosch unit in and it is still not charging the battery. Put multi meter to the post on alternator and it is only putting off 11.5v.
I recently had two brand new Bosch remanufactured alternators fail. One after six weeks, and one was bad right out of the box.
