I installed a new BOSCH alternator in my MERCEDES-BENZ 190E 2.0 1991, and unlike the old one, this one has a **D+ port, a B+ port 1, and a B+ port 2.**
This is a known issue with non OEM and especially bosch alternators, the regulator gives a different signal to the power control unit.
If you were family or my customer I would get the Bosch.
IMO a rebuilt German Bosch unit is far superior to the Chinese alts.
He replaced the alternator and serpentine belt. Parts $208 for alternator and belt. Labor $100. Limited lifetime warranty on alternator and 3 years on belt. Honda Civic.
I’m running my a 120amp Bosch but my car is m42 it’s honestly overkill for my setup with aftermarket speakers, amp, and sub.
I have a 2013 manual. I've had to put 3 or 4 alternators in mine. The last one literally lasted a year, luckily it was still under warranty, and I only had to pay for the labor to have it changed out.
My 09 just ate its oem alternator also, at 225k miles, but its an EX without VCM. There was some oil in the area but I guess it can’t be from the spool valve listed in the TSB.
good luck ever finding an oem alternator that isn\u2019t $1700 from honda dealership. Denso been on back order for fucking years somehow
I had a Bosch alternator die in <6 months. Got installed in November 2024 and it died a few weeks ago.
