2004 Limited with 310000 miles alternator went out so went to local service shop . They were able to get it in and repaired next morning other shops in the area are a week backlog.Parts we're 310.00 (Duralast alt.and Gates belt)
I went with a Duralast Gold(90A) which never gave me a issue. If I had a oscilliscope im sure it had good output.
Possibly the alternator, mine did that so I bought a brand new duralast gold alternator and it solved so many of my problems.
As far as replacements I've had good luck with Rock Auto Sticking to the better brands like Motorcraft, AC Delco, Remy, and Bosch.
Been there with a Motorcraft alt. 181K miles. She stopped charging. No batter light on the dash. I laid it to rest and paid my respects.
I’ve never had an issue with a Duralast starter or alternator. However, honestly, I probably wouldn’t put one on my Lexus. I’ve generally shoved them into cheaper and simpler cars.
I burned up 4 of the duralast Gold GM 12si alternators while they were still under warranty, if I had to venture a guess it would be they don't like high RPM . I removed them from two of my samurai's and went back to stock, haven't had a problem since
I went through 3 duralast nators on my wife's exploder before I got one that lasted more than 6mos. Aftermarket everything has mostly gone to shit.
I have experience with both shitty Autozone Duralast alternators and I would not purchase them.
I have shadow codes for my water pump because of it, and my voltage is not high enough at idle, and never surpasses 13.5ish volts. It whines loudly, and it doesn't make the same power as my last alternator contrary to the ratings.
The refurbished Duralast alternator has worked fine for a few months but the last month I started to hear belt noise and assumed it was related to the alternator. The last couple of weeks I would smell a new unknown burnt smell that smoked like either rubber or electronics which has led me to wonder if the battery/alternator fuses have gone out.
