before i got my car i was used to having my I6 powered 300E. having six cylinders was great and i could maintain 90mph for hours on end. i just went from southern CA to the bay area a couple days ago. the 1.8T did great! did much better than expected. i had just had my 15k service the day before i left too. stock air filter was in because i forgot to put the K&N back in. when i got back though i saw how much dust was on the stock filter after the trip so i was glad to save the K&N. anyway back on track, would have been nice to have 6 cylinders on the open road but the 1.8T was great. i kept it at 80-85mph the whole time. 6+hrs.

Pros: 1.8T did great
Mileage: 15000 km

K&N Air filter

I've had the K&N in my V6 for the last 50,000 miles without any problems. When it came time to clean it I let it dry thoroughly (over 24 hours) before oiling, lightly oiled it, and let it soak in thoroughly before installing.

Pros: no problems, good longevity
Cons: requires careful cleaning/oiling
Mileage: 50000 km

K&N Air filter

I've had a K&N drop in in my 99 1.8t since new, and I now have 70,000 miles on it. I've not had any problems with the MAF or anything else like that.

Pros: no problems with MAF

Mileage: 112654 km

K&N Air filter

We also had a K&N filter in the car and the Mass Air Flow sensor failed about 14,000 miles later. The dealer did replace the MAF under warranty and did not suggest the failure was caused by the K&N.

I installed per instructions a K&N air filter to my 2000 VW Passat. Upon Driving the first 3 hours after installation my check engine light illuminated and a warning message appeared on my trip computer stating "Emissions Workshop!" VW stated that the error was a result of a faulty air mass sensor. It was determined by VW that Oil from the K&N filter had fouled the sensor and the sensor could not be cleaned. I now wish that I had not installed your product at all, because now at this point I am screwed. I am also out $579.41 for less than 3 hours of use of your product.

Cons: fouled MAF sensor, check engine light, costly repair, short lifespan
