OEM Mazda Valve stem seal

On my 2021 Mazda6, I took a video of the low oil warning, then selected the maintenance interval screen to show it was 2500 miles from the next oil change.

Pros: completely painless, managed under warranty
Cons: horrible dealership experience
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 4023 km

I also am getting my cylinder head replaced under warranty for a 2020 GLI due to the smoke on startup. I had my PCV valve replaced around 14k miles, then did the valve stem seals and both worked for only a few thousand miles. Now the dealership wants to replace the head.

Slightly off topic, but I had terrible valve stem seal leaks in my ‘02 v70xc. It would smoke pretty bad on acceleration after idle. Used ATP AT-205 reseal. It’s an additive that softens up the rubber seals. And it 100% fixed my problems.

Pros: 100% fixed my problems
Vehicle: Volvo
Part number: AT-205

My first car was a 1.0L polo with 50hp and 99mph top speed. Any time I was in a hurry to get somewhere I would be doing sustained 6k rpm for hours at a time. I did frequent oil changes so I think helped the engine survive but it did wear out the valve stem seals so it smoked a bit on startup.

Pros: frequent oil changes helped
Cons: valve stem seals worn
Vehicle: Volkswagen Polo

I got a ‘21 CX-9 and found out this model has a valve stem seal issue which causes the vehicle to burn oil around 4K after the oil change. Mazda has service bulletin out for this but I have not noticed my oil level drop so far.

Pros: service bulletin available
Cons: burn oil
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 4000 km

When I rebuilt my ABA block for my Cabriolet, I was pretty bummed when I discovered it was using oil. Not much, maybe 1/2 quart per month of driving it daily. Like I said, I was pretty bummed because I figured I had done something incorrectly. I even re did the valve stem seals, but that did not help.

Cons: using oil, did not help
Vehicle: Volkswagen
