I bought a set of GT radial Champiro with the expectation that it will be just a crap daily driver set. They actually have really good grip for non race tires. Seriously, so much so that when I put the front set on and went to autocross, it caused my car to spin out because the front had more grip than the rear.

I have Nokian WRG3 18's on my S3. They are traction rated so I can use them up in the mountains without chains but are also rated for \"year round\" use (with a mileage rating!) so they don't wear as quickly in typical Portland, OR winter weather (wet and just above freezing). So I use those Nov-April and my 19's the rest of the year. I'm pretty happy with the overall feel and noise level of the tires.
Ended up ordering the last set of Pirelli Sottozero 3s in the country from tire rack. I'm getting them installed today.
I ended up getting the Michelins at Costco on sale for a great price. I love them so far, will have to see how they are in the rain/snow
Put my 16" golf oem rims and general artimax tires on last night. So far very happy with the road noise and handling even in 60 degree temps here in NJ.
I have the Michelin A/S 3s on my MKVI and am very happy with them, they replaced the OEM Contis that came with the car at around 40K.
I put over 40k on my p zero tires with the mk6, I know people dog then but I was glad to get them again with my mk7.
I ran 16" Michelin Primacy Alpin's on stock MINI alloys on my Clubman and loved them
I run mine at 36 (cold), had them about 8.5k now. I used 38 for a while but once they start to wear and the tread squirm and tread depth starts to go away, they don't ride quite as soft as when they are new. Mine are probably 35 - 40% worn. Steering response gets a lot better as they wear too.
Car was on all seasons that were almost new(falken 912's). Going down the highway at 35 in 4th gear, I was running about 1k rpm and any touch of the gas would spin the tires. Starting on a hill was impossible.
