Please spend the money on quality oil. Use synthetic, 5W-30 or 0W-40 is recommeneded. Most of us use 0W-40 now, since we've found that 0W-40 makes the engine quite a bit smoother in sound and keeps it quiet.

Pros: smoother engine sound
Cons: dirty oil causes damage

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

2004 Cayenne S with 262k miles and also my 2005 S4 Cab with 202k miles. Keep up with maintenance which I mostly do myself. I always fix small things before they become big ones. And I change oil half the miles the manual calls for. I always have used a synthetic, Mobil 1 to start and Liqui Moly oil after 100k miles because it helps high mileage cars last longer than regular oils.

Pros: helps high mileage cars
Mileage: 262000 km

AMSOIL Engine oil

On my 25’ Ranger Raptor I’ve done oil change at 500, 2500 and 5000 miles. Will continue every 5k. I run Amsoil signature series 5w30, with MC filter. Ford recommends 10k.

Pros: continue every 5k
Vehicle: Ford Ranger
Mileage: 500 km

Lucas OS works great. It's some amazing stuff, BUT. Do not go over your oil change intervals. Once the Lucas additive starts breaking down it turns to a nasty varnish. Went 7k using synthetic amsoil z-rod and Lucas OS, on a new rebuilt 4.0l. Lost a lifter and ate up the cam lobe.

Pros: amazing stuff
Cons: turns to nasty varnish
Mileage: 7000 km

AMSOIL Engine oil

Amsoil's biggest 'benefit' is a longer service life. Their additive pack doesn't break down as quickly, so you can run it longer between oil changes. However, if you're paying twice as much and running it twice as long, it's a wash and you're not gaining anything. When I was selling Amsoil, I had a modified 4 banger and a high mileage 24v that had both been running Rotella for the entire time that I owned them before switching to T6 when it was introduced. I pulled UOA samples every 1k miles, then switched to Amsoil Signature after 5k and did the same thing except I pushed the Cummins to 10k. Zero improvement in fuel dilution, wear markers, or carbon build-up. After seeing there was no real-world benefit, I stopped selling it. I won't market a product I don't believe in, let alone one that I see as an outright scam.

Cons: no real-world benefit
Mileage: 10000 km
