take the car to the muffler shop ..ask them to remove the muffler, resonator and straight pipe the exhaust from the catalytic back.... Thank me later... Permits that 20 valve engine to breath proper... And the 2.5L is so perfectly balanced and engineered it's still quiet... Until you hit the accelerator... Changes the entire driving experience...

I have the '07... GLS, triple black color combo... Good little car.. drove it from Dallas,TX to central Mexico round trip w/157k miles... The 6spd auto gets awesome fuel milage..
I had the European aspherical mirrors on my mk5.5 Jetta Sportwagen. They perform as advertised, but beware that you will have MORE light in your eyes at night from vehicles in your blind-spot areas.
Haven't done a super long road trip in my MK8.5 - but have done a few 200mi trips. The car absolutely eats up the miles. Seats are super comfortable, cabin noise is tolerable, and I averaged 34MPG both ways cruising between 72 and 80. I personally despise adaptative cruise control, so I immediately turned it off (aggressive Boston traffic makes it unbearable). I did keep the lane assist on which is fine, not as good as the lane keep in my Raptor, but works very well. I'm more than happy with the ride, and once I get on to some smooth pavement, the 200 treadwear tires really quiet down.
Got the OEM brakes installed not too long ago and they’re definitely worth the install. Two year warranty with them at VW.
When I bought it, I was made aware of an idle hunting issue - whenever I push in the clutch or return to neutral and the rpm drops, it drops drastically, almost to zero. It then bounces back up and will oscillate slightly before finding idle around 800-1000 rpm.
I've had my 2010 GTI for about a year now. I've taken it from 103k to 109k, Only issues have been plastic hoses and the water pump. Other than that its been totally fine.
Minor transmission problems at the moment. It's got a whirring sound which changes in pitch along with acceleration. It shifts easily into 2nd from 1st, takes a noticeable while to get into 3rd and again to get into 4th. When it does go into 4th it does so in a few falls on the tachometer, rather than instantly. It just takes a damn long time to. The revs do seem to correlate with acceleration - but rather sluggish. Mechanics say the torque converter is worn. Another shop which specialises in Volkswagen outright said VW automatics are generally trash especially from that time.
Ho una Golf 7 1.4 TSI 122CV del 2014 quindi con motore EA211. Ha all'attivo 157000km, da quando ho fatto 140000 km devo rabboccare 1l di olio ogni 2700km.
I've had my cylinder head replaced in June. About 3500 miles later, I see smoke coming from the exhaust again!
