This is my second Bosch 044 fuel pump that I've been through within a year time span. FYI when I was running a Walbro fuel pump, it never died on me. I decided to switch to the Bosch 044 because I've read that it was a lot more reliable than the Walbro. My first Bosch 044 fuel pump started going bad when I couldn't hear the buzzing noise. I got them from USRT and they suggested that I bang it with a hammer. Well I did and it started buzzing again. That worked for a little bit, soon after it stopped buzzing even after I hit it with a hammer. Connected jumper wires straight from the +/- side of battery and nothing. My conclusion, it's dead or fried. My second Bosch 044 is starting to do the same.

Cons: short lifespan, unreliable, stopped working

They rate the pump at 500 hours on ethanol and I think I actually got less than that. Although I have heard dsm and evo guys running these pumps with no issues for over a year my guess is our cars don't like it. This is a genuine 044 not a fake one. It was installed of July of last year and it ran pump fuel until December. My pump completely died on Friday and the car would not start. Luckily my friend had a spare one laying around that he wasn't using popped it in and the car started up again.

Cons: died prematurely, not E85 compatible
Part number: 044

Glad it worked for you. I thought for sure mine was fixed when I replaced my fuel pump, even spent the extra for a Bosch, but the problem came back a few months later.

Pros: initially seemed fixed
Cons: problem came back

I had this problem for well over a year, then my fuel pump died. Installed a Bosch because I felt the stalling problem, after lots of research, could be due to faulty pumps ..even new ones. The car didn't stall again under 1/4 tank for many months until all of a sudden, it did it again ..a few times.

Pros: no stalling for many months
Cons: stalling returned

Amazon AND Bosch are still advertising the Bosch Premium Fuel Pump, part number 69740, as the correct part for the 2004 VW R32. It is NOT.

Cons: incorrect part advertised
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 85000 km
Part number: 69740

I recently installed a Bosch 040 fuel pump (which is relayed). Now prior to when I start the car I have about 12.7v, once it starts It sits at around 11.9v because he alternator doesn't kick on.

Cons: alternator doesn't kick on

I have them on two of my cars. I like the engine bay install the best. easier to do and quieter. The under the car version sounds like a busted chevy fuel pump sometimes. But after I upgraded the fuel filter the noise was reduced by half.

Pros: quieter in engine bay
Cons: noisy when installed under car
Part number: 044

Bosch Fuel pump

Replaced it with a Bosch and it hasn't stalled at all even when the tank is almost empty. It was the fuel pump all along, can't believe it lasted so long from the first signs of failure(over a year)!

Pros: no stalling, tank almost empty
