Best has been new Bosch or Delco-Romy from jobber stores. Never had one of those fail yet.
I think I put a Bosch 145 on my 01 5.3 and it’s been a non issue
After that I would pick the Bosch reman. A junk new alternator is going to last a fraction of the time of these 2.
The Bosch reman is the one I'd go for. I've got it in mine.
The alternator went out on it, and I had to replace it four times due to faulty over the counter rebuilt Bosch parts.
Upon retrieving the information to answer you correctly I discovered that my original alternator was a Bosch 140Amp/14Volt. My new alternator is an A-Premium 140Amp/12Volt.
Fcp euro, Bosch alternator for less than $400 including core charge, free shipping. Lifetime replacement. Believe it’s 5% off 250+ currently as well. Bosch is the OE supplier, no aftermarket concerns.
I ended up getting a new Bosch AL49X from Bavarian Autosport (back in the day). IIRC, I needed to purchase a new pulley and fan since the old ones were Valeo and incompatible with Bosch. I sort of remember also needing a different / non-standard belt length.
I've replaced the alternator Bosch 0124615028 with an identical part number one. Then I replaced the F00M-145-435(or 385 depending on where you look) regulator on it with a AS-PL ARE0075P. Both regulates to the same voltage, 14.2V.
I was driving the Mini when the engine began to struggle at idle and then shut off, refusing to restart. The starter engaged but hit a wall of resistance. After getting it home, I found the alternator was completely stuck. The one I replaced was a Bosch. Its bearing had failed catastrophically, and the pulley would not move.
