Those Bosch lasted me a few months, but they performed excellent in that time.

So new Bosch plugs and red-top coils seemed worth the $109. Old spark plugs were pretty crusty, which made me feel better about doing it.
Just had exactly the same problem on my '09, needs a starter. Well more accurately the solenoid that pushes and pulls the starter teeth onto the flywheel is underperforming, and when cold it doesn't get off the flywheel fast enough to keep from barking the starter motor against the faster spinning flywheel.
I bought a Bosch Reman for about $260 with a 5 year warranty, went in with a moderate amount of persuasion. The oil filter, dipstick, oil pressure sensor have to come out to do it. You being from Chicago might have to fight to get the dipstick holder out without breaking it.
FWIW, if you don't have Bosch, BERU, Bremi, or NGK plugs/coils and have store brand stuff, I stop diagnostic work until you get OE grade stuff put in there. BMW's don't like the Zone/ebay for ignition parts in my experience.
I used to have a Bosch starter. Rock solid even well below freezing. Solenoid broke. My current starter is whatever generic garbage they put in, and it doesn’t catch the first time I start it in sub-20F weather.
I spent the day today putting fresh tires on (the rims to be replaced at a future date), replaced the plugs with 3-prong NGKs and ordered a new Bosch cap and rotor.
I always go with the top tier Bosch Evolutions for all of my vehicles.
Yeah can go wrong with acdelco. I run Bosch in my 93 4.3
Glad it worked for you. I thought for sure mine was fixed when I replaced my fuel pump, even spent the extra for a Bosch, but the problem came back a few months later.
I put Bosch Icons on both my Tig and MINI and am not pleased with them on either vehicle. Multiple, thin streaks arc'ing across the full length of wiper swing in simple rain/mist is unacceptable for the price you pay for them...
