YOKOHAMA Tires

Rating 4.0

We've owned a 2018 Tig for ~3 years and would buy again. Reliability at 60k miles has been fairly solid. We did have a problem with the fuel injector harness at 50k miles and it was replaced under warranty. No other issues. The 8 speed transmission is agreeable, no complaints. As well documented elsewhere, it is not one of the fastest compact SUVs, and the engine when pushed hard sounds more like a tractor than a sports car. The total car though is better than its rivals for us. We are running Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires which sharpened up the handling, and it already was competitive in that area. With good handling, steering and visibility, the Tig is not just competent, but even a little fun to drive in its own right. Ours is the R Line SEL Premium. The adaptive LED headlights on this trim level are good. The interior is a pleasant place to be, and materials have all held up well.

Pros: Reliability has been solid
Cons: engine sounds like tractor
Mileage: 96560 km

Bilstein Shock absorbers

Rating 5.0

Qmulus that is a great tip for removing that bolt. When I put my Golf R control arms and Audi solid rear bushings on our 2013 tiguan I lowered the sub frame because I was installing the dead set kit at the same time. Along with HD Bilstein shocks.

Pros: great tip for removing bolt

LIQUI MOLY Engine flush
Dieseldog12
  • Drain appearance:
Rating 4.0

what have you tried so far? I had moderate success with Liqumoly Engine Flush, following directions on the bottle. At 100K miles, I went through 1qt after 4000 miles and i've cut it down to about half of that after the flush.

Pros: moderate success, reduced oil consumption
Vehicle: Volkswagen Tiguan
Mileage: 160000 km

Falken Tires

Just curious how people feel about a stock Tiguan with wildpeak A/T. They were definitely worth it, took it to Montana from FL with no noticeable wear on the tread. I live in area prone to flooding and it's all dirt roads so it gets pretty mucky but this thing drives through no problems. Also handles really well in the rain with the wild peaks.

Pros: no noticeable wear, handles well

Banner Battery
gerardrjj
  • Cranking:
Rating 3.5

My factory Banner battery was showing multiple signs of End of Life in my '18 SEL-P so I decided to upgrade it to AGM. I opted to put the largest battery in that would physically fit and that turned out to be an H7, sort of. It went from 69Ah to 80Ah capacity and from 680A to 1,000A power delivery.

Pros: higher power delivery
Cons: showing signs of End of Life
Part number: H7
