VALVOLINE Engine oil

Last oil change I put in Valvoline R&P 5W-30. The final 500 miles before the oil change I added Rislone and it changed the color of the oil from light to dark brown. When I got the car it was using a quart in about 2200-2500 miles.

Pros: reduced oil consumption
Cons: oil color changed
Vehicle: Kia Soul
Mileage: 7000 km

I have a 2015 Kia Soul I bought new. In over 9 years, not a single thing has gone wrong with it - no repairs of any kind. Just oil, brakes and tires.

VALVOLINE Engine oil

This weekend, the oil that's in it is coming out (it's clean) and Valvoline Restore and Protect is going in. Rationale is there will undoubtedly be deposits on the pistons, in the piston ring grooves and ring lands.

Pros: cleaning piston deposits
Vehicle: Kia Soul
Mileage: 118000 km

MICHELIN Tires

We live in KY and my daughter drives a Kia Soul. She was getting stuck in the smallest amounts of snow. We put these tires on her car because she was moving to Colorado and we hoped for the best. Her car goes like a tank there now. She has been through 2 winters and no issues with these tires. She lives in a ski town and it seems like it is always snowing there. She drives a lot for her job and I couldn't be happier with these tires. I have driven this car across the country with these tires, they are very quiet and grip the road great.

Pros: very quiet, grip great
Vehicle: Kia Soul

Raybestos Brake pads

I would go with the Raybestos Element 3 kit sold here. $180 total roughly front and back. 2 seperate kits, one for front, one for back. You will find this under the fully coated section here as they have different grades of pads. For the price and how long these last, you cannot beat it. And better than the top quality parts local parts stores carry, in fact Napa sells these rebranded as their premium top of the line brakes and rotors. For the price, and the quality, is by far your best option. There are better pads that will last a little longer, but are much more pricey. With the miles you drive, these will last 5-10 years. I use these on all vehicles in the rust belt, as these are rust coated.

Pros: inexpensive, long lasting, good quality

OEM KIA Brake pads

Rating 2.0

Factory tires are garbage, but good all seasons and it gets around in the snow fairly well. My rear brake pad that had little wear, fell apart while driving in the mountains around the same time ( not covered ), I have never seen or heard of this happening before here or on other vehicles.

Pros: good all seasons
Cons: factory tires garbage
Vehicle: Kia Soul

NGK Spark plug

Rating 1.0

2018 Kia Soul Base, 57k miles, on the third set of plugs and they are misfiring already. Factory plugs lasted 30k miles, followed up with Autolite plugs lasting 10k (which I chalked up to being cheap/low-quality plugs), but now these NGK iridiums are giving out with 17k miles on them.

Pros: iridiums giving out
Cons: misfiring already
Vehicle: Kia Soul
Mileage: 91735 km
