Windshield Pilkington or OEM Volkswagen
I have an aftermarket pinketon glass on another car. Frankly, on that car, it seemed more durable than the factory glass.
No problem w replaced our 4th with a Pilkington! The first 3 with OEM - big mistake x 3. The last was a Pilkington and it’s lasted many times longer than the other 3 OEMs combined. We also think it’s taken some hits that would have definitely shattered an OEM.
I replaced my cracked windshield with OEE glass, which was Pilkington EZ Kool. The shop recalibrated my camera for the pre-collision assist, and it's functioned like normal.
Aftermarket. Pilkington if given a choice.
Had my Tiguan for 3 years with no issues. Never had anything hit my windshield.
I’ve had my 2018 for over two years and have taken some serious hits on the windshield from gravel and have been surprised it hasn’t cracked.
I've got a big rock chip on mine I've been waiting for six months to spread and it won't.
I actually just had my glass replaced today. The bill on my invoice was $760.00. It did not seem like it was OEM glass though I could have sworn the the old glass had a VW logo on the glass, and on the new glass I do not see any logos.
My previous body style tiguans never had an issue, now my 2018 has had a chip, then crack, got it replaced and got another chip weeks later. Had the previous style in rugged places like Colorado where I would get rocks flung up routinely, now it seems like the tiniest pebble will crack that thing.
I have one that has chips and one of the chips started cracking and now it’s going across my windshield ???? and according to car fax the previous owners replaced it twice before.
