My 2019 EXL windshield got replaced 3 yrs ago with aftermarket glass and not a problem at all. And it cost me on $400 everything working fine.
My 2002 Toyota is perfectly unharmed...
My 2001 Toyota has one 5 year old chip, and another one from a year ago. I bought the filler stuff for it 5 years ago, but never actually used it because the chip simply has not grown whatsoever. It's not an issue.
I was in a similar situation 2 years ago, except it was a 2012 accord n was looking at a 2023 4runner. Biggest difference i felt in the negative side was fuel economy and throttle response. Neither are something you should expect from 4runner, and I knew that going in but driving them back to back or alternating every other day, u feel it a lot. As far as throttle response, after driving for a while I realized while it's not a k series engine n can't go like it can but its plenty powerful and it can be responsive if ur in the right gear n right rpm. windshield is a chip magnet but so is my accord. I do like the near vertical windshield, though. I feel it blocks the sun better during the day.
Same with our 2021 Honda Accord. Our accord we babied and had the windshield repaired 4 times and it was only ever driven on pavement. The windshield cracks when dirt hits it.
Back in 2014, I had just gotten my New Honda City VX variant, petrol.\nCracked my windshield a total of 5 times over a period of 3-4 years.
I purchased a new 2024 Honda Accord EX in August 2024, yesterday 6-7-2025 temperatures reached 94⁰ in my location, when I got in car around 1:30 pm I noticed a split starting from window frame covering near windshield wipers, once I turn AC on the split increase more that 6 increase which currently is more that 8 inching center windshield.
There hasn't been any rocks or debr hitting windshield.
I’ve got like 4 or 5 cracks, looks like I’ve been in a war zone. Every time I think about replacing it, another rock hits the windshield
I average a cracked windshield every 1.5 years at this point
Freaking windshield is a magnet for rocks on the street. Funny when I park by another 4Runner I keep looking for the vin# so far everyone I check have a replacement already
