Windshield OEM Toyota or CARGLASS

If you have the rain-sensing wipers, you will need OEM toyota glass because the rain sensor depends on the optical characteristics of the windscreen. My local Safelite assured me their glass would work, but it didn't (the wipers would run on random but frequent intervals), so they put in a second third-party windscreen, and it didn't work either. So I had them put in a third windscreen (they went with OEM), and everything was fine after that. OEM is an extra-cost option on the first install but it costs 40% more.

I got an aftermarket windshield for around $300 and have had no problems with the camera

2024 Toyotas seem to have very weak windshields. My 4Runner is less than a year old. In the past 4 months I have gotten Four windshield cracks from rock chips. It seems the windshields are poor quality glass.

My 2024 RAV4 did the same thing.

It sounds like the windshield may have been replaced with a cheap aftermarket option and not original Toyota glass. Likely the windshield installer did not install it properly or the seal around the glass has failed.

21 tundra 1974 edition here and can confirm that its the worst quality glass ive ever owned. I live in florida and have more nicks and scratches then can count. Im amazed it hasnt fully cracked even tho theres a small crack from one of the chips

I feel like the Toyota windshield’s are shit. It was chipped and repaired 3 times before. Then a 4th rock hit it and cracked the whole thing by several feet.

What kind of cheap glass did Toyota use on these 2019+ RAV4?? I keep seeing them cracked.
