Windshield OEM BMW or OEM Hyundai

The OEM windshield has been perfect ever since.

I called a local 3rd party shop and had them order the glass from BMW and then they installed in when it arrived from Germany about 2 weeks later. Saved me about $1500 vs. BMW of Austin asking $3200 installed (HUD, Driver Assist Camera, etc) including recalibration. Was ~$1700 all-in for OE glass and recal of the driver aides and HUD. Could have gotten it about $600 cheaper with 3rd party glass, but have heard horror stories about how cheap glass can mess up visibility of the HUD so stuck with OE BMW glass.

I ended up going through a local glass company, and they sourced OEM glass from BMW. The replacement went perfectly.

Just left the dealership today looking for a quote on my 2021 430i with HUD. I was going to pay out of pocket to avoid a comprehensive claim on my insurance until I was quoted $2K.

if you have the model that projects information on the windshield like the speed, etc you must get the OEM replacement. Only an OEM windshield works with it because of the glass type. Also I have a new chip on the current one that has been replaced. So ya I think these chip easy and it may be due to the special glass used, I'm not sure.

I have a 2021 Hyundai venue and on two occasions now my windshield has spontaneously cracked while parked in my driveway from the lower corners of the windshield and both are going halfway across the windshield spontaneously sitting in my driveway in California I've never had this happen in any other car I've ever owned.

On my 2022 540i, I went through 3 windshields during my 3 year lease. Felt like the glass with HUD is made of sugar these days.

Windshield quality on ioniq 5 is absolute trash

She's cracked her windshield multiple times, the glass is very thin.
