I have high praise for their overall quality. I owned a set of Savero HT2 all seasons and ran them on an older Explorer. They wore like iron; outstanding quality.
We tried a set on our HS Civic, then onto my codrivers CS NC. They're notably off pace from other 200tw (down in grip even to the RS-RR), but they wore like iron and communicated at the limit. Very solid for the money.
Speaking of cheap tires, I recently switched my tired old 41k mile Sumitomo ZIII with these $43 in 225/45 17 Riken raptor ZR and quite surprised how well they are. They grip as good as my ZIII did, way quieter and rain performance was fantastic. I was hesitant at first until I read reviews on tirerack phrasing these are great tires and they are definitely good. I also learned Riken is part of the Michelin tires company so its probably of decent build quality.
I have had great luck with GT Radial so far.
They have an aggressive tread pattern and I have driven them for the last 7 months in a variety of conditions from downpouring rain to hot, humid sun and they have not let me down yet. I push them hard on a cloverleaf on-ramps. They grip well and don't even chirp.
Have these on the 944 and they are surprisingly good. Not pirelli p7 good, but good and they hold up. Honestly I have no issues with them. (Riken Raptor ZR summers)
Currently running GTRadial Chamiro UHP1 tires and am about to install my 2nd set. They are CHEAP and almost as good at the Direzza Star Specs on my Porsche. I was shocked I got 20k miles out of them, they grip really well and don't get greasy easily at the track.
The socal 86 cup is sponsored by them, so they've all I've ever used. They're more like 260tw. But I got 245 r40 17 for like $80 each. They're not the best, but they're the best for the money.
Friend has a set, they are pretty good for how cheap they are, but they won't be as fast as most of the other 200 tw tires.
I’ve been running Riken Raptor ZR A/S tires since I got my WRX just over a year ago and FINALLY got my hands on a set of Blizzaks. I’m excited to see how they handle any future snows here in Colorado Springs. We just had a good bit of snow dumped on us this past week and the all seasons were definitely showing signs of needing replacement.
