Tires Pirelli or Falken

Pirelli Tires

At 35,000 miles, I replaced the stock Dunlop tires on my 2023 Rav4 SE Hybrid with Pirelli Scorpion AS+3. Early days here, but after 500+ miles, the road noise is drastically improved. No apparent change in gas mileage. Could even be slightly better.

Pros: road noise drastically improved
Cons: ride is softer
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 35000 km

Falken Wildpeak AT3W surprised me they cut through that slick layer way better than expected and stay predictable in rain

I’ve winter-driven my F82 a couple seasons now, and the SottoZero 3s are honestly solid they’re not as ice-grippy as the Michelin Alpin 4s you ran, but they hook well enough in packed snow and feel way more stable than you’d expect on a big-power RWD car. The only thing I noticed is the Bridgestones feel a bit firmer on cold pavement, but nothing crazy.

Pros: hook well in packed snow, stable
Cons: firmer on cold pavement
Vehicle: BMW M4

Honestly, if you want something that’s actually good and won’t punch your wallet in the face, Falken and Kumho are the two I recommend the most. They ride nice, last a long time, and don’t have that cheap-tire sketchy feel. Falken is usually the sweet spot solid grip in rain, quiet, and priced way lower than Michelin/Continental.

Pros: solid grip in rain, quiet
Cons: priced way lower

Pirelli Tires

I have the Pirelli CInturato SF3 on two of my cars and the Michelin Cross Climate 2 on one of them, and the better tire by far is the Pirelli. On dry roads the Pirelli works better, it does it's job very well at any speed. Where the Pirellis really shine though is in the rain. They work very very well, I have not felt any aquaplaning, and they really work surprisingly better than any tires I have had before.

Pros: works better on dry roads, excellent in the rain

I swapped out my first set of Pirelli A/T at 22k miles because the tire noise was driving me insane. They still had tread left and probably would have lasted to 30k but I was so sick of the tire noise, which got very loud around 15k.

Pros: tread left at 22k
Cons: tire noise was insane
Mileage: 35400 km

The Falken tires are indeed terrible. Mine needed to be replaced at just 18K miles. I recently opened a case with Mazda Corporate and they ended up reimbursing me for about 60 percent of my Michelin CrossClimate2s. The process was quick and their customer service was excellent.

Pros: customer service excellent
Cons: tires are terrible
Mileage: 18000 km
