I also run 60 on the pump track. I notice the sidewall rolling over and you can hear it scrubbing when down at the pressure I dirt jump with (35). You'll have a more confident experience with the higher pressure forsure.
Ran maxxis holly rollers for years, and recently got a set of billy bonkers and I've been very happy with them.
I hate to throw another tire in there but I urge you to check out Maxxis Razr AT811s. I put them on my 22 Tundra a little less Than 3 years ago and I have not been disappointed. They're 50,000 Mi Tire and they are wearing great so far. I'm at 25,000 miles and they're not even half worn so I guarantee I will be going over 50 on them. They're pretty good and wet conditions and they three Peak Mountain snowflake rated and I can confirm that they are amazing in the snow. They are more budget friendly tire but I can attest to their quality. They do make a little noise going down the highway, but nothing too terrible. Go ahead. Check them out.
I've driven my 2012 Camry for about 60k miles and the only maintenance I've needed routine. Tires/brakes/oil/etc...
Maxxis Maxxlite 29x2.0
Good tire if you have a lot of paved transitions between gravel sections. 375 grams per tire.
Yeah holes in the tyres generally aren\u2019t great for holding pressure! That tyre is a long way past dead, it needs changing ASAP, i personally wouldn\u2019t trust it for driving at any speed.
It seems like every time I go riding it rains here in Sweden, so its pretty unavoidable! I just wear a rain jacket and decent pants for all of my riding and fear most every root or bare rock encounter (which is constant on MTB trails).
I had both tires for 6 month each. There isnt really any apparent difference in fuel economy.
I run 29x2.4 Ikon/Aspen on hardpack and it serves me well. The Aspen at first was more nervous over roots but I think I was running too high a pressure and it’s much better. The Ikon is just my jack of all trades XC tire; not good or bad at anything.
This is one of the reasons I stopped buying Maxxis tires. Really, all tires will do it to a certain degree but Maxxis seem to be the worse IMO.
I would highly recommend passing up maxxis tires. Those things are so danged slow. Vittoria Mexcals or Teravail oxbows are what I’d look for.
