Ive got a cx50, live in Tahoe where it snows plenty, and with all weather tires, this thing is a beast.
I got a Mazda 2 with good winter tires , I'm in Calgary. It costs me almost nothing on gas, and I finish the week with way more money in my pocket. in my 40 years of life I've learned a FWD car with decent rubber will handle winter good as any suv.
I commuted 100 miles a day in my CX5 in snowy Maine. I had a 6speed manual transmission and snow tires and never had a problem.
I also swapped the stock tires for A/T tires, mostly for the looks, but they actually helped in sand and rough surfaces.
I had got the same issue and yeah normal mrf dealer said the same thing. Best option is go to the mrf warehouse...in my case it was just a 10 minute process. Then the guy did a quick inspection of the wear and tear. Mine was less than 5 mm so I wasn't charged anything and got a replacement tyre instantly.
I also got it when I was on my trip (3k kms on altroz racer r3). I stopped for alignment and found bubble. The tyre shop referred me to MRF district office. MRF office told me to contact car dealer for letter you just mentioned. While i just communicating for letter, told me.. not needed.. he just checked tyre tread depth, gave me a letter which tells tyre shop to install new tyre, got back to tyre shop, got it installed. Continued trip. Total time : 2 hours.
Same issue with my virtus. Got replaced tyre under warranty
Happened to my MRF tyres too! A bubble on the sidewall. Had to get the tyres replaced.
Same issue on my Taigun. Those mrfs are bad. The showroom and mrf said that it was due to impact damage and refused to replace initially.
My brezza came with MRF Ecotreds as well, I have already gotten 2 sidewall punctures in 28k kms. Had to scrap one tire entirely. So frustrating
