Awesome bike, but swap out the stock tires asap.
Swapped my wifes Z4 from runflats to normal.
Pros: better ride, less likely to crack rims, cheaper tyres.
Cons: no spare tyre.
Before I switched I had 4 sidewall tears, one bent wheel, and one cracked wheel. $3000 in damage. After I switched, zero issues a year and a half later. Smoother ride and less road noise too.
Recently bought some Rikens(Japanese tyre company that is now owned by Michelin and made in EU) for my wife's car and they are smooth AF.
For better handling and winter traction, I would consider getting wider tires.
Rikens are fine. They're quite a soft tyre, probably because like you said Michelin make them butbthat does meant the grip is decent.
I have some rikens as my non-race tires for the c4. They're fine.
Just be warned I bought new and we don’t drive it wild or anything but both rear tires (non staggered 21”) were at 3mm tread after 10k miles and I had to replace them. Was shocking.
I got the wheel and tire warranty when I bought my car. They’ve already replaced 4 run flats for free. I got 2 blowouts in the last 2 weeks hitting pretty average sized potholes that I’ve never had issues before with. Run flats suck.
I’ve been running Riken Raptor ZR A/S tires since I got my WRX just over a year ago and FINALLY got my hands on a set of Blizzaks. I’m excited to see how they handle any future snows here in Colorado Springs. We just had a good bit of snow dumped on us this past week and the all seasons were definitely showing signs of needing replacement.
