Tires Nokia or RIKEN

Nokia Tires

I’ve run studded Nokians exclusively now for years. Never going back. What you give up in dry traction you more that make up for on those super hard packed icy days. Especially if you’re running on the highways frequently.

Pros: good on icy days
Cons: less dry traction

Studded all the way! Had Hakkas on my RAV4 and they made such a difference. They can save your life on black ice.

Pros: made such a difference
Cons: slide on dry asphalt
Vehicle: Toyota

If this is your first time, yes get some studded tires, something like a Hakkapelitta.

We drive a FWD minivan or a RWD truck - both with good winter tires, Michelin X-ice on the minivan, Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 non-studded on the truck.

Pros: good winter tires

I have Nokian Hakkapelitta studded tires and they’ve been amazing the last 2 years living in Banff and I have a RWD car, drove to Calgary and back plenty of times, in snow storms and have driven to Jasper and BC in the winter with no issues.

Pros: amazing, no issues

I run wrg4’s for winters and their decent. They’re not loud and they’re fine in the dry and wet. Snow and ice they could better. Not as good as a full winter but better than all seasons.

Pros: fine in dry and wet
Cons: could be better snow/ice

Their new US plant seems to have quality control issues. I never had similar issues with my old imported ones, but bought a set a few years ago that came from the new Tennessee plant and they had major dry rot within two years.

Cons: major dry rot
