I’ve owned a lot of VWs, and this is the only one that has not consumed any oil from the very beginning. I’ve actually joked that I’m concerned about that. I kept my previous 2016 GTI until I bought this car last year - 212K miles and it consumed about a quart and a half between 5K interval changes, ever since new. In fact all of my VWs have consumed something since new and that amount never really changed, so I do believe it is most likely build tolerances and luck of the draw. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to drive a car that consumed a reasonable amount these days and I consider that normal. Build quality has been better than I expected for a car in this price range. Comfort is very good, but it’s not what I would call sporty in any way (coming from a GTI). some people complain about the lag on acceleration but I believe that is the transmission programming and there are ways you can drive it that minimize that. I think the Nexen tires are decent enough and they seem to wearing well.

Pros: no oil consumption, decent wear
Mileage: 30000 km

Nexen Tires

We ran those Nexens for a few years on a Ford Focus RS AWD in winter and it's a solid tire... The Michelin is a better tire especially on ice, but for $150 less I would take the Nexens again. This is in ND, so winters can get pretty extreme and they perform well.

Pros: solid tire, performs well
Vehicle: Ford Focus

Vredestein Tires

I have been running the Wintrac Pro since Nov '23 they haven't come off yet! This tire has been hands down the very best all season tire I have ever run. Excellent rain and dry performance and very good snow performance. They don't hook up as well as Hakka's because they are a harder compound and they do not break as well on snow as Hakka's. But they are exceptional in more areas. I have driven all summer on them and it is almost winter here now in the PNW mountains of Oregon. I live directly north of Mt.Hoodamd I regularly drive the WRX north to the Seattle area randomly all year including winter. Mostly travel the east route or what locals call the 'backside' route which is much colder and see's more snow. I come west on 90 through the Snoqualmie Valley and these tires inspire confidence. I just measured them at 7/32" of tread left and I have put 25k mi on them in one year. I do feel like they have gotten a bit harder than when new but they still perform so I will run them down to 5/32" and purchase a new set.

Pros: excellent rain, dry, snow performance
Cons: harder compound
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 40233 km

I’ve been running the pros the past 2 years on the wrx. Going to put them on my wife’s cx90. And I’ll put the pro+ when I need to replace them on the wrx. I won’t put another tire on for a while. Absolutely in love with them. Amazing rain traction and a nice soft sidewall but not winter tire soft, great if you have coilovers. I run a high rate for autocross and these tires have been so comfy. Did great with snow as well. It’s not invincible like dedicated winters but you will never have issues unless you decide to hoon in state of emergency type of weather.

Pros: amazing rain traction, comfy
Vehicle: Subaru

Nexen Tires

I currently have a set of nexen hp 265/35/r22 102v on my truck and 2 of the tires are splitting in the sidewalls..but I've had them almost 7 years and the tread still holding strong. Smooth ride its just the two with sidewall splitting

Pros: smooth ride, tread strong
Cons: splitting in sidewalls
