The General Altimax Arctic is a previous gen Nokian design, and very good for the price.
Can go wrong with Nokians, in my opinion. I've had several sets on Saabs, my JSW, Touareg, and currently run studded Hakkepellitas on the wife's fwd GSW 5 speed. I ran General artic studdless on my GSW 4 motion 6 speed last winter and was pleased with the performance of those as well.
Agree on this but don't forget that General is owned by Continental so a lot of the same technology goes into their tires
Thats what I use and love em.
I've personally installed the RT43's on my own family members cars. They were great. Great in the snow, rain, and they are quiet. I don't think they're in the same class as a Michelin Premiere, but for the price they are great tires.
I ran three sets of those tires and never had any issues.
Those winter tires are on all of my cars and they are GREAT!
I ran Nexen N-Fera SU1 on my GTI this summer and they were great. Wet/Dry performance for the daily driver was great, noise wasn't an issue either. Seem to be wearing well.
Good for the money.. they are indeed 'budget tires'.. Perform decently on dry.. but wet traction is not all that good and I thought they wore fast.. like 30k miles.. rotated them every 5k..
I switched my winter tires for summers back on the Miata and noticed something odd. There are parts of the tread in the center on every tire that just seemed to have fallen off at some point. I bought the tires in 9/2015 and they had a 1012 build date. I was quite upset with Tire Rack that they would send me 3.5 year old tires advertised as new but they said there was nothing they could do. I ran them winter of 2015/2016 and again this current 2016/2017 winter. Last year they didn't have this separation and I have no idea what happened. I don't think it's something small that I ran over since it happened to all 4 tires. They're 175/65/14 General Altimax Arctics by the way.
