You can look into Nexen. Korean brand. Not as cheap as the Chinese brands but not as expensive as the known brands. I fitted these on my Tiguan last year. Take my anecdotal experience with a grain of salt, but the ride felt quieter with the Nexens vs the Bridgestones it had on before.
If you have the 15" stock wheels, check out nexen npriz AH5. I got some off Amazon for my 65 riviera when I was stock height.
If you live in South Texas in an area that gets a lot of rain I would say that you will get excellent traction with these. I live in Houston, and we get LOTS of rain and hurricanes etc. I have these on my Lincoln MKS (big heavy AWD sedan) because I previously lived in Colorado and needed the three peak rated tires for the snow. If I was living here when I needed new tires I probably wouldn’t have gotten them, but I have NEVER had a traction issue driving even at higher speeds in heavy downpours. Feels like a dry road to me.
I have them on my car, bought them in 2023 and living in the northeast, they've gone through two winters, hot ass summers and rain and they've done the job and still have a ton of tread on them. With so much insane weather here, I was worried about maybe some traction problems in the snow and rain. Haven't had any at all. YMMV but they've been better "for me" than some higher priced, higher rated tires I wasted money on in the past. I can't speak on everything the company sells, but my specific ones are the Nexen CP671s.
I have been using michellin primacy 4ST since 35k on my car 4-5 years ago. Covered 40k till now they are still good for another 20-30k and they have made the car very quiet and much better to handle.
I did a lot of research while changing my Goodyear Triplemax. Imo, Continental UC6 and Michelin P4 are the best to have. I went for Michelin P4. Great tyre????
Im a MI driver and these tires have been a game changer for me driving through snow. I bought these around October last year and they were such a boon during this winter relative to my previous all season tires.
3 vehicles with 3 sets of Michelin CC2s (mine, wife, daughter).
Best tires I’ve ever rode one.
Smooth, traction, no road noise, great wet traction, and overall grip.
BFG is definitely a class above the Nexen. Sure Nexen has never issued a recall but they make very mid car tires imo, underrated truck tires tho and excellent quality control.
