I’m blazing through most all snowy conditions with AWD and crossclimate 2 tires which are snow rated but also a great all season tire.
I run Michelin CrossClimate 2 and have been happy with them, in northern Indiana. My son put a set on his 2IS and he’s also a fan.
This is why I always buy the best possible tires for any car I own. Unfortunately that really hurt last week when I spent $2500 on a new set of tires (Michelin Pilot Sport S 5).
About 30-40k miles. I just changed to Michelin LTX M/s for a second round the first set got me 85K miles. I’m hoping these ones last the same amount of miles.
I second the Cross Climates. I have them on my NX and they\u2019re the best tires I\u2019ve ever had.
I swap wheels/tires twice a year running summers on the stock wheels and winter Michelin snow/ice on 17 basic black wheels. Car handles snow in New England like a dream.
Alpin 5s are awesome. Never an issue in as much as 4-6" of snow.
If you have issues with your current tires, consider getting a all weather tire like CrossClimate 2s.
After 2 years and 20k miles my cross climate 2 started to lose traction on ice. Still at 8/32nds though.
I've been selling tires for two decades and I've never driven on a set of X-Ice tires I've liked. Continental Viking Contact 7 & 8's are great, as well as Bridgestone Blizzaks, have always performed better in my opinion.
