MICHELIN Tires

So I had Michelin Xclimates front and rear. After 31,000 miles, I unfortunately got a puncture in my front right after hitting a ratchet strap :(

At the time (5 years ago) £125 a tyre was definitely worth it for ~31,000 miles.

I changed the fronts with a set of Xclimate 2s. They’re expensive yeah… but they work.

Pros: worth it for miles
Cons: expensive
Mileage: 31000 km

Absolutely worth it. Mine feels so much better in wet weather, and it barely affected the fuel economy over the eco-tyres I had before.

Pros: better in wet weather
Cons: price rises

Try Maxxis AP3's, they're dirt cheap and nearly as good as the Michelin Cross climates. I've genuinely been impressed by that specific Maxxis tyre, on my 3rds set now.

Pros: dirt cheap, nearly as good

MICHELIN Tires

Decent brand all-season tyres will last well and be safe and capable all year round (come snowy season you might get roped into giving lifts lol), and you’ll have peace of mind; and those to me are certainly valuable enough to spend £350 on.

Pros: safe and capable

I replaced all my mismatched tyres when I bought my 2012 Yaris three years ago, with a set of Michelin CrossClimate+. Worth the piece of mind.

Pros: worth the piece of mind

Continental Tires

Not a fan of the OEM Continentals on my 2019 here in Western PA. Will switch to Vredesteins Quatrac Pro. I was pleased with them on the Tiguan and the wife\u2019s Volvo in winter driving and all around.

Pros: pleased with winter driving
Cons: not a fan
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Our '11 Yaris came with these in a T-rated 185/60-15 with 160 treadwear. They had some tread left but were super unsafe by 20k miles (no traction on wet roads and uncontrollable axle hopping wheelspin with light acceleration). Total throwaway trash tires: super loud, no grip, harsh riding.

Cons: super loud, no grip
Mileage: 32186 km
