I've ran the DHF for years and currently run it, but I've ridden a few bikes with the Assegai and I think it is in every way a better, more predictable tyre than a DHF.
I run a DHR II and an Assegai for downhill. I love the hookup of the Assegai for varied conditions. The DHF and Assegai are both great tires but I find the Assegai more aggressive with better traction overall.
I’ve ridden both for many years. The DHF was designed and made when tires were 2.3 wide. As the front tire has generally moved to a 2.5 width the space between the centre and side knobs opened up quite a bit and there is now a vague area of less traction at certain lean angles before you get onto the side knobs.
Assegai is my favorite front tire but it is a little slow rolling. If you don't mind that then there aren't many better front tires.
I have ridden the DHF exclusively since getting my bike. I fell in love with the grip when cornering, literally feels like the bike is on rails. I have never lost the front tire in any conditions.
well, if your in japan my shop just recieved a 24x2.4 dhf. It’s s very high quality tire!
The only thing I’d add is I’d suggest them in Maxxspeed, but they are only available in 2.35. Rode them front/rear last season and they were excellent.
DHRs are grippy as hell but are not fast rolling. I swapped out for DHF and DHR to see about getting some extra grip and it was an absolute disaster when it came time to pedal. Ended up leaving the DHF on but putting the DHR back on the rear. I feel like it was a good compromise.
Get a new tire. But heads up maxxis are know to have wobble. My new set wobble a small bit but still shred
I’ve been running Riken Raptor ZR A/S tires since I got my WRX just over a year ago and FINALLY got my hands on a set of Blizzaks. I’m excited to see how they handle any future snows here in Colorado Springs. We just had a good bit of snow dumped on us this past week and the all seasons were definitely showing signs of needing replacement.
