Tires Kumho or Vredestein
You can get a good all weather tire with 3PMSF rating for less than the CC2s. See Vredestein Quadtrac Pro, Falken Aklimate, and Altimax 365AW. All of these will be cheaper than the Michelins but will provide long tread life and good performance in snow + cold temps. I put the Quadtrac Pros on my mom's Impreza a couple years ago (Chicagoland area) and they've been great. So much better than the Firestone FT140s it came with from the factory.
On the truck I have some Vredestein Pinza AT tires which are quite beefy and snow tire rated but also pretty smooth on the highway.
Recomand kumho Solus, sunt cu 17 lei/bucată mai scumpe de 300 dar sunt bune. Fratele meu a avut pe mașina și se comportau bine pe ploaie și pe uscat iar pe zăpadă, decent.
Vredestein Wintrac Pros on OZ racing wheels. Under 2k for the set. Fun when it's dry with a 170+ top speed rating. And grippy on ice and snow. I run it 99-98 percent of the time.
I like em. And they ride way better than stock. Didn't have problems last winter but granted it's been a while since a true blizzard.
These are EV specific tires and do include foam padding inside. After installation, I noticed an immediate improvement in road noise. What really impressed me was the improvement in road noise during city driving and driving over bumps specifically. The Kumhos were much quieter in both areas. The ride also felt immediately smoother and more refined over the Continentals. While the tires did also reduce road noise in highway driving, the difference was not as stark as the former mentioned scenarios. I think the explanation there is that the tires can only do so much; we all know how poor the pre-highland Model 3s are in terms of sound insulation.
Again as these are EV specific tires, they were created with range in mind. With the Continentals, I averaged 230wh/mi over 40,000 miles. I've since driven 1,500 miles with the Kumho tires, and I am sitting at 218wh/mi. Not a game changer but certainly an improvement nontheless.
Overall I am very pleased with the Kumho tires.
Leaving aside whether or not the mechanic should have changed them, the difference in quality and performance between Kumho and Bridgestone is negligible, virtually nil.
the kumho tires ours came with from the factory lasted to around 50-55,000 miles. I’m disappointed I was stupid enough to not rotate them, and paid the price because oddly, front tires were perfect. Both rear tires are absolutely blasted after around 45,000 miles give or take. Severe cupping to the point I swear both tires had bad belts.
We’ve had a HORRIBLE experience with Vredestein tires. We put them on my son’s Acura TSX, and 20,000 miles later all four are shot and need to be replaced. The front two are BALD. And by “bald” I mean BALD all the way across the tire.
