I run Achilles atr sport 2s on everything super cheap pretty good grip on dry. Could be better in the wet but even in the rain in my 350z with no driver aids I’ve never once felt unsafe due to tires
Hitting 30k on my set on my 2015 Mazda6 rotated at every oil change (7k miles). Go ahead and pay less. You aren't cheaping out.
So I’ve had the ATR Sport 2’s on my car for 8000 miles. For people saying that you won’t get good tread wear out of them; they’re plain wrong. My only complaint is the tire noise but considering the price I won’t complain it’s not that bad with music on.
I have them on my 2017 Mazda 6. I have no issues with the tires. At 70mph there is very little road noise. They feel a little softer then the Dunlops. They kind of remind me of the Cooper CS5 I had on my old Mazda 6.
I actually run the kumho ecsta pa31! So far I love everything about them, they have tons of grip and really low road noise if that's something you're concerned about.
I just got Achilles atr sport 2's. They are summer tires, and I got a staggered set of 4 for 19" wheels for less than $300 shipped. The dry grip is excellent I'm very happy with them, great value.
Update: Got the tires installed today. I noticed a major drop in road noise. I was using 9yr old Kumhos, that sat in the garage most of their life. Other than that, no noticeable difference going from 225/40 to 225/45.
225/40/19 snows are what i run on the stock wheel, the Kumho Wintercraft WP72 is a killer tire for the money ($173 on simple tire)
I have those Kumhos and I am not a fan. They are quiet, but not nearly as sharp as the RE050s they replaced, but the car moved from Texas to Ohio and I had to have all-seasons. I have 50,000 on one pair and 20,000 on the other (blew out 2 sidewalls in winter potholes) and I am going to use them through the summer and then put something else on for next winter (even though there's still a lot of tread there), probably Continental DWS. They are inexpensive, last forever (if you stay out of potholes) but feel awfully soft on turnin. Not really bad, just not my thing.
I had a set of kumho's on my 08 GTI and they were terrible. Very expensive and terrible performance.
