I like Gislaved Nord Frost tires
My current car, a 2010 GTI was on "Goodride SA-07"'s when I bought it, and from what I found they were extremely cheap ($65/tire) and they are extremely nice from the 10k miles I have put on them.
Had gislavid nordfrost's on my golf wagon tdi. Would highly recommend these tires. Northern Ontario highway driving, these tires were amazing on ice and hard packed snow, made the wagon feel like it was all wheel drive.
i put yokohama ice guards on this year. we'll see how it goes. before that i had Gislaved Nordfrost tires that were unstoppable in snow storms.
This was my second year on the Gislaved Nord Frost 5. I've had Blizzaks in the past and have used X-Ice, Nokian Hakepellita R, and Toyo (can't remember the model). The Gislaved is by far the best tire. The deep snow grip is by far the best of the bunch, the ice grip is second only to the X-Ice (which had the worst snow traction). Road noise is very low as well.
Nordfrost 5 (no studs) for the Tig (4motion), Marangoni 4ice on the Passat. I like the Nordfrosts better (had the Nordfrost 3 on the Jetta and loved them there too).
another winter tire i was (am probably gonna get this week) is the Gislaved Nordfrost 5 (Part of the Continental Tire group). All ive been reading are great reviews and best bang for the buck.
Gislaved is a Continental brand: they are OK-ish tires at best.
They look to be mounted correctly; however, I find cheap chinese tires like those don't perform as well as good quality tires, are more noisy, and wear out faster.
The Goodrides on the cheap M3 I bought gripped like greased plastic in the snow.
