I ran a General Altimax (AS??) on one of my older cars and at the time was plenty happy with it.
I am a big fan of General tires in general in the moderate budget category... they are a great cost to benefit tire and part of Continental tires.
The Grabber HTS 60 is a great tire... as long as you don't have to deal with winter conditions.
I had General Altimax Arctic 12s for 2 years and didn’t switch them out in the summer. Surprisingly great performance on all the dirt roads and still held traction on their second winter season.
I had the general altimax on my old Lincoln LS. They were great and would go again if I need dedicated winters.
I have the generals. All day today, I was like wtf is everyone driving so slow. Plenty of grip, predictable and balanced slip. A literal joy on a -40 day in Edmonton.
Ran the 365AW on my Forester & found it to be a competent tire for the freak weather events that happened before/after the winters being on.
Recently picked up a set of general altimax 365aw for my 2013 XV. They seem to handle rain fantastic and seem to be well lugged/siped for snow. Not a dedicated snow tire, but better than all seasons!
I ran them for the past few years in PA winters. Not a single issue. Love them.
I just got the G max RS on my Mk 7 from a dealer. Don’t know too much about track performance but they’re grippy if a little loud while on the highway.
Check out arivo, sailun, federal, Achilles, gt radial these are mid to upper mid budget tires.
Anything cheaper just go with westlake or look for the ph branded tire from yokohama. Hard pass for comforser tires
