The first winter I had my current car, I went out and bought a set of generic steel rims and Nokian Hakkapeliitta's. Expensive but oh so worth it.
I also have the Nokian Hakks as mentioned by others.
Studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9, give them their own rims, 4-5 years of always being able to stop, going is easy, it's stopping that matters.
I’d also recommend the Yokohama Avid Ascend series as a good all season, and the Nokian One (it’s a new tire, I’m running them on my fiancé’s car right now and while they aren’t the quietest, if you’re not a car buff they’ll be perfect for you)
On my work vehicle ( 2011 Ford Escape AWD) studded Nokians.
Take a look into Federal Evoluzion ST-1. These are really good with a lot of positive reviews from owners of powerfull cars.
I'm a fan of Nokian WR G4's for year round use. We loved them during our MN winters and enjoyed that we could keep them on all year.
I had a LOT of luck with my Nokian hakka R9s this winter on the LX470, but it's a studded tire. the x-ice were quieter but that's possible due to studs. As of now, I would highly recommend Nokians.
Yep, have these on my BiTurbos. Good size for a 14x6. I'll use them again when I find a set of 7 or 7.5\" wheels. Downside is they are just regular all-seasons. Not terribly fun but I'm not driving crazy at this height anyways. It'd be nice if there were some 14\" Summer options in a 195/50 at least.
I have a set of Federal RSRR. They only have about 3,000 miles on them. I took them to a track day and there was no feedback on when the tire would lose traction, the car would go from full grip to zero in a snap.
