I've gone through at least 5 sets of 651's over the past 4-5 years of daily driving and autox (07 scion tC & now a 17 BRZ). as a budget tire, really can't complain for learning without breaking the bank.
I really like the federal command tires, they were an amazing price (around 60$ for 2). They also have a very pronounced grind protection lip on the side wall. On a super hot supper day they have amazing grip and wonderful feedback.
My only complaint is because they are a slick tire, you get amazing rolling, but the second there is a dusting of sand on a hard surface you can slip out pretty easy.
I purchased Federal Xplora RT tires and they are the best tires I've ever had. I got them three years ago and I have over 40k on them and they are barely warn. They are literally 100k tires. Wet traction and hydroplane resistance are excellent. I did a little bit of snow and they did well there too.
I run Federal RSRR on the front of my drift car and Id say its TOO much grip in comparison to the rear 'whatever-I-Can-get" used tires.
The Federals have been good for me the last couple of years for a budget tire, but they're really only a budget friendly tire for larger sizes.
Federal command 2.4s have been my favorite so far. Smooth center tread for good rolling and speed retention, but still have some tread on the side for banking and grind protection. Rubber compound they use is also getting softer with time/riding so they feel better the more worn in they get.
595s are super squishy. I'd say, out of all performance tires, they have the least stiff sidewall. It's definitely you reducing how much sidewall you have by going up to bigger wheels.
Probably one of the loudest tires I’ve had.. Federal 595 RSRR
I’ve ran them for autox for fun when I had bmw Z4. They aren’t that good. Lol. Decent daily tires though.
Landsail tires at 150mph. Yeah would not recommend...
