Tires Falken or TIGAR

Falken Tires

I run Falken Wildpeaks AT4w on my GX 550... The Falkens have been on for a year and are great on road and light off-roading. They are good in the snow but not as good as the Toyos.

Pros: great on road, great light off-roading, good in snow
Cons: not as good as Toyos in snow

Falken Rubitrek A/T. They are a little less aggressive then the Wildpeaks, and perform better on the highway. I do a lot of highways miles and occasionally drive on some rough trails, these have been amazing.

Pros: perform better on highway, amazing on rough trails

Falken Tires

The Falken Wildpeak ATs I had on my Gladiator were great. They spent about 90% of their life on road. They were quiet and I had minimal MPG loss. I got close to the 55k mile mark before I needed to replace them. They were great in snow and rain, never had a sliding issue.

Pros: great, quiet, minimal MPG loss, great in snow/rain, no sliding issues, good mileage
Vehicle: Jeep
Mileage: 55000 km

Just got mine a few weeks ago! 265/70R17, much quieter and so much better in rain than my KO2s were even when they were brand new. I got SL, went back and forth between SL and E. I really wanted them to have a C-class LT tire but not available in this size

Pros: much quieter, better in rain
Vehicle: Toyota

I got slightly larger tires (I think 235/65/r17 but could be wrong) but they fit and look nice. Falkan wild peaks, they’re 3 ply and slightly heavier so they’re basically a money sink. Worse fuel economy, more road noise, more expensive to purchase. Buuuuut… Look cooler, better off road / snow performance, less likely to pop from impact.

Pros: cooler look, better off-road/snow, impact resistant
Cons: worse fuel economy, more road noise, expensive

Falken Tires

Falkens don't last more than 30k miles. The rubber starts to break down after 16mo. Tread is fine, but they start to crack at the shoulder. Even if you rotate them like a good human, even if you park in a heated garage, even if you wash your car every week or two. Big box tire shop and the manufacturer won't so anything for you either. Happened to me and will NEVER buy them again.

Pros: hazard replacement warranty
Cons: rubber breaks down
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 30000 km

Falken Tires

I don’t know about Falken AT/4, but the AT3’s were the worst tire I’ve ever owned.

Bad enough that I’d never consider a Falken product again. Punctured easy, (three flats in 30,000 miles, first one within 4,000 miles). Rock grabbers and rock throwers. Terrible in deep snow.

Cons: punctured easy, terrible snow
Mileage: 48280 km
