Tires Falken or Hifly

Falken Tires

My Wildpeak at3 held up to 90k miles. Highway use with cell tower trails between highway runs. They are a great tire.

Pros: high mileage, great tire
Mileage: 90000 km

Falken Tires

I have just over 1000 miles on the falkens, and on road, I don't think I could tell the difference between them and the Michelin crossover tires that I had before. They're obviously much better off road.

Pros: good on road, much better off-road
Mileage: 1000 km

AT4W - 265/75R/16 stock SR suspension.

Initial weekend thoughts:

- I sit slightly higher with these bigger tires. Just barely enough for me to notice though as I look over my steering wheel. I previously had on the stock 245/75R/16 HW tires.

-MPG’s don’t take a hit on regular roadways up to 45 MPH but getting on the freeway is when I feel some resistance. The truck feels heavier/slower and MPGs are reduced by 2-3 MPGs on the freeway as I’m accelerating more frequently to reach and stay at my desired speed.

-There is virtually no road noise difference from the stock tires, at least not what I’ve been able to tell so far.

-I feel the road more, speed bumps feel more sensitive for example.

-The A/T tread is picking and throwing up some rocks from the road.

I’ve only had them for the weekend so far but I love the functionality of these tires and they also add that desired aggressive look I have been longing for. I’m excited to take these off pavement real soon.

Pros: sits slightly higher, no road noise, good functionality, aggressive look
Cons: MPG reduced on freeway, feels heavier/slower, feel road more, picks up rocks

I got slightly larger tires (I think 235/65/r17 but could be wrong) but they fit and look nice. Falkan wild peaks, they’re 3 ply and slightly heavier so they’re basically a money sink. Worse fuel economy, more road noise, more expensive to purchase. Buuuuut… Look cooler, better off road / snow performance, less likely to pop from impact.

Pros: cooler look, better off-road/snow, impact resistant
Cons: worse fuel economy, more road noise, expensive

Falken Tires

Falkens don't last more than 30k miles. The rubber starts to break down after 16mo. Tread is fine, but they start to crack at the shoulder. Even if you rotate them like a good human, even if you park in a heated garage, even if you wash your car every week or two. Big box tire shop and the manufacturer won't so anything for you either. Happened to me and will NEVER buy them again.

Pros: hazard replacement warranty
Cons: rubber breaks down
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 30000 km

Hifly Tires

I must say that they are fine in dry weather, but in the wet… Absolutely dangerous! They have no gripe at all.

Pros: fine in dry weather
Cons: dangerous in the wet
