Tires DUNLOP or SUMITOMO
My new favorite cheap-o all-seasons are the Sumitomo HTR high-performance all-seasons. Quiet, good dry grip, comfortable, cheap.
The Direzza's are pretty sticky and take a lot before they break traction. I'm very happy with them performance-wise.
think I actually have been running my dunlaps at 36 front 38 rear cold maybe a couple psi more, can't remember since its been so long. It usually gains a couple psi (think it was getting to 40 all around hot) on the first run and I bleed back down to that point.
I have Dunlop Star Specs and I absoutly love them! They are sooo grippy its crazy, some say they are a little loud but who cares when you can corner like a gecko on glass!
I run the sumitomo 215/50s but I got a 185/60 for a spre so it fits under the rear mat.
the summitomo HTR-200 are a relatively decent tire. They are super cheap and come in several sizes that would work for you.
its a very good tire but dont expect a loong life out of them. good life for a sticky rubber but if you after long life this is not the one to get. this is more performance oriented. i prefer RE-01Rs / RE11 for the stick or G force sport for long life. depends on what your after. but great for autoX / daily driver mix in my opinion.
I went with steelies and 16". I actually run 16" 55 series Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires. They are OK but not magic. I actually really love the look of plain black painted steel wheels on my lava grey A3. When I put my normal wheels back on in the spring I'm always disappointed.
I ran them on my R32, lasted about 20k miles. I was not impressed with them. Not sticky enough of a tire to have so short a tread life, not cheap enough either. I expected a hard tire that would last me awhile, and I got a hard tire that wore out at the same rate as a Toyo R-compound tire. Will not be buying Direzzas again. For the same price range I'd stick with Kuhmo's or Falken Ziex.
I am not happy with the quality of the Dunlop tires and I feel they should replace all the tires with a better reinforced sidewall in order to avoid the problem from resurfacing.
