Tires Continental or MRF

Continental Tires

So I have 2800km on mine, mixed city and highway. I have just under 9/32 on the front and just over 9/32 in the rear. These again are the continental 5P new they have 10/32.

Pros: good tread depth
Mileage: 2800 km

Mine came with ContiProContact rubber. I ran them at 34-35 psi instead of 37, on a stock suspension. A quiet, and compliant tire. Good for general street use and on the highway. They also worked well in the snow, to my surprise.

Pros: quiet and compliant

I've run my MK7 GTI with stock ContinentalProContact all-seasons (came with the car) on the stock Austins; and then with wider wheels and 235/40/18 PSS. Huge difference in wheel spin for the same throttle setting/gear.

Pros: huge difference in wheel spin
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I have been using the same Continental Extreme Contact DW and separate winter tires for a year and a half and they have outstanding grip in wet and dry, are quite and wear is OK too.

Pros: outstanding grip, quite
Cons: wear is OK

Continental Tires

Same for winter tires, where I've owned Michelin, Pirelli and Continental ExtremeWinterContact, and by far I like the Conti's followed by Michelin and I'll never own another set "ever" of the Pirelli Sottozero.

Pros: like the Conti's
Cons: never Pirelli Sottozero

Conti ExtremeContacts are noisy. I have them on my Mazda5. The tires are especially loud when they are cold and moving at low speed. They feel like good tires and seem to wear well, but the noise factor alone makes me want to not keep them for too long.

Pros: good feel, wear well
Cons: noisy, loud when cold
Vehicle: Mazda 5

As for tires, I'd absolutely recommend against getting Conti DW's. I got them to replace Michelin PSS' mainly because they were cheaper and I thought the drop off in performance wouldn't be as significant as the price difference but it is...Very significant. For a chill family car, DW's are great..for any kind of performance driving, they just aren't good enough. Traction is ok but the sidewalls are very soft and I could feel them rolling and giving away at the track.

Pros: great for family car
Cons: soft sidewalls, poor traction
