Tires Continental or Laufenn

Continental Tires

Continental VikingContact 7 (8 is probably even better) or Pirelli PZero Winter 2 are both good and quiet for everyday use. And I’ve run both in some deep snow with no issues.

Pros: good and quiet
Cons: no issues
Vehicle: Audi SQ5

I put Continentals on mine. Had Michelins when I bought it. They barely lasted 20K miles and the ride sucked. Now it feels like riding on clouds compared to the Michelins and handling is so much better.

Pros: better handling, cloud-like ride
Cons: poor mileage, ride sucked
Mileage: 20000 km

I've had multiple sets of Continental CrossContact LX25 tires over the years and get by just fine every winter. I'm in Columbus though.

Pros: get by just fine

I have had Laufenn G Fit on my Honda Fit since this summer. They're Hankooks and fantastic. I wanted a low noise grand touring tire and these had pretty good reviews and I got them for about 85 bucks each a corner on sale and thought, this is a Pimp My Ride moment that I cannot give up. I mean I heard you liked Fits yo so I got you four G Fits for your Fit.

This Honda is a noisy car compared to most other modern cars and the previous Sumitomos roared with half the tread left. These new guys just sort of hum quietly and calmly and sometimes I don't even hear them on really good pavement. They are night and day better as far as comfort and noise.

The highway feel is amazing, they track really well and took away any squirliness of the car which it inherently has because it's rather lightweight. It feels like you're driving a little train, but it easily switches lanes when you need to. I don't feel like I need to correct as much when I'm at speed.

Criticisms you'll find online have to do with wet weather grip which I took pretty seriously by going out to some empty roads and trying to peel out and slide in a torrential downpour. I couldn't find any fault with them compared to the older tires.

Of course they might not be the right tires on something else like a big old German touring sedan. But on this 2500 lb Honda they are comically good for the price.

I like them so much I'm thinking about getting some for my CRV as well. I like them better than the Michelin Defender that were on a car that I just sold. Of course, I think the Michelin probably has longer tread wear, but as far as the driving feel these cheap tires are amazing.

Just a reminder, I'm talking about the G version and not the X or I think they make an s version too. But I assume they all have similar carcasses and compounds.

Pros: fantastic, low noise, amazing highway feel
Cons: wet weather grip
Vehicle: Honda Fit

Laufenn, I currently have those tires for my truck. Had them for 2 years so far and still plenty of tread left. Was also looking for a decent all weather tire and found this. Highly recommend.

Pros: plenty of tread left, decent tire

I have 2 years of experience with Continental all seasons in Poland, and difference is insane. The car drives like shit tbh both in winter, and in summer comparing to winter/summer tires.

Cons: drives poorly in winter, drives poorly in summer
