We have our 2017 Golf wagon which it getting long in the tooth...timing chain maintenance is coming up very soon... Plus all major fluid changes(DSG, haldex, brake, coolant, etc...), but it runs well.

Pros: runs well
Cons: timing chain maintenance soon
Vehicle: Volkswagen Golf
Mileage: 12000 km

OEM FORD Timing chain

My 4.0 V6 Mustang has not jumped timing and destroyed the engine despite the 4.0 being infamous for it at very low mileage. It's probably because I actually take care of my car and change the oil regularly.

Pros: timing chain reliable, engine not destroyed
Vehicle: Ford Mustang

OEM FORD Timing chain

I ended up spending 800 on genuine ford parts and did pulled the motor myself and took it as a challenge. Took me a month because I had to reorder parts and I was working a lot. The job is very hard and complicated and I have been working on cars for a good while. The good news is it runs like a champ now and it’s got 250k miles and I’m gana milk this truck for all it’s worth lol.

Pros: runs like a champ, high mileage
Cons: hard to install, complicated job
Vehicle: Ford Ranger
Mileage: 250000 km

After doing a complete OEM parts timing job my numbers were actually initially worse 7 and 8. After driving the car for 1 tank of gas the 209 number went slightly down to 4 and 208 stayed at 7, also 90 and 91 are still flip flopped.

Cons: numbers initially worse
Vehicle: Audi TT
Mileage: 37000 km

I had a 2012 fabia with the same engine and it started rattling at 82k so I got it swapped. VW claim it’s a lifetime part, which I guess since the engine is scrap if it goes bang isn’t wrong.

Cons: rattles on cold start, stretches over time, not lifetime part
Vehicle: Skoda Fabia
Mileage: 132000 km

OEM FORD Timing chain

on the Ford 4.6 around 175k you need to do an engine out service to fix timing chains because a nimrod at Ford put them against the damn fire wall.

Cons: engine out service needed, poor placement
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 281635 km
