Timing chain OEM BMW or OEM Volkswagen

We have our 2017 Golf wagon which it getting long in the tooth...timing chain maintenance is coming up very soon... Plus all major fluid changes(DSG, haldex, brake, coolant, etc...), but it runs well.

I still have original timing chain on mine and it has 185,000kms on it. Hasn’t skipped a beat yet

I have 635d with m57 at 200k miles on the original chain

My m57 197hp originaly still on original chain. Its at 265.000km now

My timing chain needed replacing a few weeks ago. It cost £4k, engine out job. But I caught it early, before it actually snapped, apparently it’s a common problem, needs replacing around 90k miles, drove perfectly fine, smooth af before and after, except it was hesitant to start, thought it was starter motor but no, was the timing chain

I also have 2017 Tiguan with 160,000 km. Just had mechanic check it as I heard rattling on startup and they recommended replacement.

After doing a complete OEM parts timing job my numbers were actually initially worse 7 and 8. After driving the car for 1 tank of gas the 209 number went slightly down to 4 and 208 stayed at 7, also 90 and 91 are still flip flopped.

Daca esti dispus sa sacrifici un pic la an si fiabilitate ( oarecum ) te poti uita si la un bmw 118-120d cu mentiunea ca posibil sa fie “mai manarita” la banii aia si cu vesnica problema a distributiei.

I have 2017 Tiguan and took it to the dealership for all the servicing. I have been having engine issues since Sept 2023. The timing chain was replaced and ever since my engine has been losing oil.

I had a 2012 fabia with the same engine and it started rattling at 82k so I got it swapped. VW claim it’s a lifetime part, which I guess since the engine is scrap if it goes bang isn’t wrong.
