Timing belt AISIN or OEM Honda

OEM Honda Timing belt

That’s actually not a bad price. Paid $1400 at 110k miles for timing belt, coolant change, and water pump at independent shop on the families odyssey. $1850 from dealer don’t sound bad.

Pros: not a bad price
Vehicle: Honda Odyssey
Mileage: 110000 km

OEM Honda Timing belt

My 03 Honda Pilot was $2300 in 2023 and had 230k miles. It’s almost to 300k and hasn’t really needed anything done except general upkeep maintenance. It’ll need a timing belt soon though.

Pros: general upkeep maintenance
Cons: need timing belt soon
Vehicle: Honda Pilot
Mileage: 482803 km

it’s critical that job is done with genuine parts. Have a dealer , or even better, a quality independent shop do it that will use genuine Honda parts. Most don’t. They use aftermarket junk. If aftermarket is used you won’t get a 100k miles out of that service interval like you should.

Pros: genuine parts last 100k miles
Cons: aftermarket junk fails early
Vehicle: Honda Pilot
Mileage: 100000 km

aisin is the best! it’s got everything you need and it’s not extremely expensive. took my personal mechanic 4-5 days to fix it up, but he also had to work on other cars. aisin is always going to be dayco when it comes to timing because it’s the exact match from the stock one when the car was made

Pros: best, not extremely expensive
Cons: took 4-5 days

I have used Aisin kits every time on the several (near 10) timing belt replacements I have paid for over 25 years of owning Honda V6s, the Aisin parts work great, no issues.

Pros: parts work great, no issues
Vehicle: Honda

I had 280k on my 01 accord when the og snapped, thought it had been swapped by previous owner as it looked to be in good shape when I did the water pump and I ate that about as fast as I stopped when it killed my engine.

Cons: belt snapped, engine killed
Mileage: 450615 km
