Looks fine, and acts like a shock. That shop just trying to scam you. Bump stops looking torn, but that's fine. Use them as long as possible, eventually upgrade to Koni Yellows if they make it for the Mini's.

Pros: acts like a shock, looks fine
Vehicle: MINI

People keep saying Bilstein, but I’d highly recommend Koni yellows. I’ve had Bilstein b6/b8 and they always get harsh over broken pavement. The Konis are much more smooth, less bouncy, just much nicer overall. They have knobs for rebound adjustment as well.

Pros: more smooth, less bouncy
Cons: Bilstein gets harsh

I finally bit the bullet this week and ordered a full set of Special Active shocks from KONI (who I believe licenses their Frequency Selective Damper technology to Tesla)

The result is way better than I expected!! I don’t regret it one bit! It basically ate up all the small bumps on the road. I regularly find myself going over 90mph on the highway without realizing because of how smooth it is!! And this is with the stock springs.

Pros: eats small bumps, smooth ride

Dobinsons Shock absorbers

Just change shock absorbers. I would very much recommend adjustable ones eg Dobinson. Bilsteins are great but they have very specific valving which has a lot of low speed damping, eliminating body roll but resulting in a bumpy ride under 60km/hr. At high speed they’re awesome. Some of the US spec ones have softer valving (5100s)

Pros: eliminating body roll
Cons: bumpy ride under 60km/hr
Vehicle: Toyota

I have Koni stocks and H&R springs with a 20 mm lift (barely noticeable). I like the way the car became more stable and controlled on gravel and highways. However, springs are considerably stiffer, and with 1-2 passengers suspension feels a bit rigid, but just great when the car is fully loaded.

Pros: more stable and controlled
Cons: suspension feels a bit rigid
Vehicle: Suzuki Jimny

I've been thru multiple sets of the Oranges and the current set have around 20k on the rear and 45k on the front. The rebound damping has always been sub par on these IMO.

Cons: sub par rebound damping
Mileage: 72420 km

I have a K1500 with the 6.5 diesel. It rides like literal shit. I bought the Koni Red adjustable shocks to try and deal with it. It also rode like shit with the factory bilsteins everyone uses as a go to

Cons: rides like literal shit
Vehicle: Chevrolet
