Oil filter Wix or Mobil
0w20 Mobil one synthetic and Mobil one filter since 50,000 km to now 205,000km on my 2014 mazda3. Engine runs great.
This time around I used a Wix filter (which oddly has no branding on the can but is exactly the same as the Mann filter for these cars). I chose to use non-VW-price-gauging oil which doesn't have their certification but I am pretty confident would meet it: Zepro Eco Medalist 0W20. It's an excellent oil intended for small displacement turbocharged vehicles.
Mobil 1 full synth, or castrol full here as well, and usually their filters.. Yearly oil changes for me by my driving, and I change the filter every oil change instead of every other
I use WIX filters a lot - excellent reputation.
I've been using Mobil 1 European formula as it is VW approved. I use Mann filter.
I just grab whatever High Mileage oil's on sale at crappy tire, but I always use a Mobil 1 filter.
I then added new oil (Mobil 1 full synthetic) and a Mobil 1 oil filter. I also added distilled water just to top it off because I wanted to do a full coolant flush once the car was able to turn on. I prayed, then started the car.
I have a 17 Jetta 1.4T with 5 speed manual. Bought with 40 miles and now at 66k. Car has never let me down. Never been to the stealership just bought mobil1 0w-40 oil at Walmart and Mobil 1 filter. Oil changes every 5 k miles since it’s best. Spark plug done at 60k no real difference. This little 1.4T is pretty fun for the size. Don’t underestimate it.
Wix are a pretty high quality replacement per my experience. Wix are certainly good enough to validate that behavior is not unique to the STP filter.
Mobil 1 is the most consistently highest rated oil. Royal Purple's filters are probably the highest rated, but Mobil 1's filters are also highly rated and "Just use the OEM ones" comes in third.
