Oil filter Wix or Mobil
I've used Fram, Supertech, Denso, O'Reilly or Autozone store brands, WIX.
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w/20 with Wix/Napa Gold filters. -been relentless about 5k services, @45k now.
-just received my first ever Blackstone Lab analysis, TBN numbers were still extremely good. Blackstone advised me to push my next service to 7500 miles.
-the oil that was sampled, was still a very light Carmel color - I feel guilty throwing away oil that still looks this good
I use OEM filters on both, but I’ll use Wix filters if I’m not around the dealer.
I bought a 10 Wix filters off of Rockauto. Part #: 51394. Each one was $4.80 and shipping was $10. Came out to be roughly the same price as buying OEM ones from a dealership off of eBay and I would rather use Wix ones.
Wix is considered to be good, and it’s not expensive and readily available (can walk into local O’Reilly and buy off the shelf). Subaru OEM works if you’re close to a dealership or think to order it; I never remember to order and my local dealer is terrible, so I avoid them.
I usually buy my own oil and filter the 20k mileage mobile one brand and have a shop do it for 20 but I’m 500 miles away from home. I change it at 10k miles just to be sure. I’m away from home to often to change every 3-5k miles so this 20k mileage stuff is great and haven’t had a single issue!
Now I pay only for oil and filter, about 60 bucks use Mobil 1 full synthetic European Formula.
Mobil 1 extended performance 0W-20 engine oil with Mobil 1 m110a filter. You can go to Walmart and read what fits on your model year civic. The oil you should be sticking to is any synthetic and appropriate filter and change every 5k miles.
I put the M1-301 on my car Monday instead of an M1-205. It's a really tight fit, especially where it barely clears a tab on the radiator.
The car takes a different oil filter (wix 57170). The filter housing has a center structure coming out of it that slides in the bottom of the filter (to keep it in place?) and the new filter doesnt have that. I sat there with a dremel for 2 hours and made the new filter fit. Success, but its still leaking the same amount of oil.
