Oil filter OEM Toyota or OEM FORD

OEM Toyota Oil filter

For all my Toyotas, I just buy the OEM Toyota filters bc they’ve got them at basically any Walmart, don’t even have to go to the dealership for them. I’ve opened those up too and they’re way better quality.

Pros: better quality, easily available
Vehicle: Toyota

I was overjoyed when I saw that a toyota-branded oil filter was a touch over $5 vs $25 for the an oil filter for the 997.

Pros: cheap, readily available
Cons: expensive for 997

OEM FORD Oil filter

I was having the same noise on cold startup with an aftermarket filter and switched back to the fomoco filter and it went away. Something to do with a drain valve in the filter. The ford one is silicone and some of the aftermarket ones arent and it can cause problems.

Pros: noise went away, silicone valve

OEM Toyota Oil filter

I don't believe in trans flushes, nor do the experienced techs I talk to. They just push debris into places it's not supposed to be. Just do a drain and refill (with a new filter, if there's a replaceable filter). I've been doing a drain and refill every 30k on my Tacoma since I bought it with 76k miles - just rolled over 150k. Had my guy drop the pan and clean the screen and magnets on the last one and he said everything looked fantastic inside, no major debris, magnets were fairly clean.

Pros: magnets were fairly clean
Cons: push debris into places
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 150000 km

OEM Toyota Oil filter

I use oem but if I am out, or traveling and need a filter I use Mobile 1 M1-301A filter which is twice the size but fits perfectly. I think it’s an older Ranger filter. I used to buy the same size from Amsoil before going back to Toyota brand. Its a great filter but probably overkill.

Pros: great filter, fits perfectly
Cons: probably overkill
Vehicle: Toyota

OEM Toyota Oil filter

It’s a reliable brand. Any major oil brand should work well, as long as you stick to reputable names. I have my oil changed elsewhere and use different brands with no issues or noticeable difference between them, but I always make sure to buy the original oil filter directly from Toyota in advance.

Pros: reliable brand, no issues
Cons: no noticeable difference

OEM FORD Oil filter

Ford Oil filter is less than 50 AED. No clue what's the difference between the one branded as FORD vs MOTORCRAFT, but hey - you can even get a sport oil filter from K&N for around 60 AED... damn marketing.

Pros: cheap oil filter
Cons: marketing concerns
Vehicle: Toyota 4runner
