Oil filter OEM FORD or OEM Mazda

OEM Mazda Oil filter

Mazda recommends their oem filters on skyactive motors. Its because they dont have the flaps that keeps oil pressurized. Any wisdom says you dont need it but go ahead and buy them online as I paid $5 per.

Pros: recommended by Mazda, good price

OEM Mazda Oil filter

In terms of filter and oil, I have an NA and I personally like to buy the OE filters from Mazda and for oil I just use the oil recommended in the owners manual, id assume the ND uses different oil so I’d say just check that.

Pros: recommended by manufacturer
Vehicle: Mazda

OEM FORD Oil filter

I had a 2007 Taurus. Oil leakage was the main issue. Get it up on a rack at your favorite service shop and get the oil leaks taken care of. Oil filter is above the starter, so if you are having starter issues, look to see if there is an oil leak on the starter.

Pros: engine will last
Cons: oil leakage issue
Vehicle: Ford Taurus

OEM FORD Oil filter

My personal recommendation is a Ford OEM filter, 10qt Pennz Ultimate Platinum 5w30, and one bottle of Ceratec to help with the infamous "Coyote tick". Many will argue for Ceratec, many will argue against. All I know is my car is quieter with than without.

Pros: quieter engine

OEM FORD Oil filter

Been running Pennzoil Ultra and Ford OEM filter on my PP1 and now my Mach 1 for 5 years. Never had a single issue, even with some track days and AutoX.

Pros: no issues, reliable performance

OEM Mazda Oil filter

YES! My 2012 Skyactiv is at 233K miles, and has always had the Mazda Moly 0W-20 (with the exception where I was able to get the Idemitsu version, which is the same stuff, but without Mazda's markup. Sucks that it isn't available anymore. ) and I'm not about to chance running a different oil.

Always run a Mazda filter too. The quality seems better than most.

Pros: high quality
Cons: expensive
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 233000 km

OEM FORD Oil filter

when I did the first oil change on my car I removed an aftermarket Filter. The OEM filter was about 1/3 larger, and weighed the same as the aftermarket filter full of oil. Just makes me wonder how much more there is inside the OEM filter.

Pros: larger filter
Cons: smaller aftermarket filter
