Oil filter K&N or OEM Honda

K&N Oil filter

Personally I like K&N filters, they come with a nut welded to them so you can use a normal wrench instead of a filter wrench. Gotta be careful not to over tighten them though

Pros: nut welded to them
Cons: careful not over tighten
Vehicle: Subaru

K&N Oil filter

I have a kn 1 on my truck and winter is about every 1k miles I empty it. Its the 6oz canister and usually about half full. From may till like October I dont even have to look in it because it doesnt get more than an oz of oil build up in it. But man winter time with the condensation sucks.

Pros: little oil build up
Cons: condensation sucks
Mileage: 1000 km

OEM Honda Oil filter

Try using an OEM Honda '03' oil filter (the filter code ends in 03). This should solve the noise it makes only when the engine is cold. This happens because other filters don't retain the oil properly, causing a slight delay of about a second when you start the car to lubricate the timing chain, resulting in the noise.

Pros: solves noise when cold
Cons: slight delay to lubricate
Vehicle: Honda

K&N Oil filter

That won’t happen if you were using a K&N oil filter. All these cheap brand filters are not sturdy and will collapse when you’re trying to take them off when stuck… either The Black K&N select filter or the white Premium filter will avoid this problem from happening…

Pros: sturdy, avoids collapsing
Cons: cheap filters collapse

So that DTC sets when there is an oil pressure issue originating from the oil filter up to the bank 2 VTC solenoid and actuator, using an aftermarket item could possibly lend to this issue

Pros: oil pressure issue
Cons: aftermarket item issue
Vehicle: Honda

OEM Honda Oil filter

I ordered these 15400-RTA-003 oil filters on eBay for my FL5. The box and shrink wrap don't match the photos in any of the listings I've seen on and off eBay, except for this one place, which seems kind of suspicious.

Cons: suspicious box and wrap
Vehicle: Honda
Part number: 15400-RTA-003

Not sure about mobil1 filters, but stay away from K&N oil filters. I've just used one for an oil flush after extensive maintenance work, and after just 100 km it had collapsed.

Cons: collapsed after 100km
Mileage: 100 km

OEM Honda Oil filter

i’d like to introduce you to the honda k series. filter on back of engine, hard to reach from top, hard to reach from bottom, easiest but still hard from wheel well. oh and if it’s a honda element or CRV, it pisses oil all down your subframe and axle shaft.

Pros: easiest from wheel well
Cons: pisses oil everywhere
